Leyton High Road
A project inspired by the 2012 Olympic Games
Description:
Funded by MLA London, we started by looking at the proposed changes for Leyton High Road. This is expected to be one of the main access roads into the Olympic site, and as a result, Waltham Forest Council secured national funding to improve the street and its shops.
Vestry House Museum has commissioned a portrait of Leyton High Road, before the planned make-over of the street, documenting the views of local residents on the current situation and their hopes and fears for the changes to come.
This includes a photographic portrait of Leyton High Road by Greg Goodale, including a stunning view from Leyton Library towards the Olympic site.
The Waltham Forest Oral History Workshop has recorded a series of interviews about Leyton High Road with local residents, extracts of which will be available on the website.
